  • Carrier Mills Police Chief Chuck Rubright on Monday made an arrest in an August 19, 2012, early morning armed robbery of the Casey's General Store.
Following a Saline County grand jury indictment, the Saline County State’s Attorney issued a warrant and Rubright promptly acted. At 3:30 p.m. Monday in Carrier Mills Tevin J. Tate, 20, 450 W. Harrison St., Carrier Mills, was arrested and booked into the Saline County jail where he remained held this morning on $5,000 cash bond.
Rubright said the armed robber at Casey's wore a mask and gloves and inferred possession of a firearm, though he never showed one to the victim, the store clerk. As the robber fled on foot from the scene he dropped an article of clothing that provided the Illinois State Police Crime Lab with the necessary DNA.
The DNA was sent off in the middle of September 2012 and results were returned to Carrier Mills four weeks ago said Rubright. The DNA combined with other evidence convinced the grand jurors to indict Tate.
"We are a small department and we don't have a big budget," said Rubright.
"We are grateful for the help of the ISP and the Saline County Sheriff’s Department.”
