  • he Harrisburg High School girls' soccer team will be playing the team's first ever regional championship thanks in part to a 2-0 shut out over Salem at Olney Wednesday night.
It was the R&R show for the Bulldogs as Lillee Robinson hooked up with Olivia Rice for the game's first goal just 2:14 seconds in.
At the 53:35 mark, Rice made a perfect assist to Robinson for Harrisburg's go-ahead goal.
The Bulldogs had 30 shots on goal, while the Harrisburg defense smothered Salem into zero shots at Alysia McGuire, who recored the win in goal for Harrisburg.
Robison had eight shots, one assist and one goal on the day, while Rice finished with three shots, one assist and one goal.
Harrisburg will now play Massac County on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the regional championship.
The Bulldogs have recorded two wins against the Patriots this year and for head coach Rick Daugherty he sees his team coming along at just the right time.
"We're playing really good soccer. We were missing some players against Salem and it's just nice to have that nucleus of players that I can throw in there to fill some holes and fill some voids."
A regional championship would not only be the first for Harrisburg, but would also send them to the Freeburg Sectional next week, likely Wednesday, where Daugherty believes the Bulldogs could face Alton Marquettte.
