Joan Seright Berns, age 74, a native of Harrisburg, and a resident of Fairhope, Ala., passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013.
She was an active bridge player with the Nix Center and the Daphne Senior Center; a member of Eastern Shore Art Center, a volunteer at Thomas Hospital and Fairhope Library. She was an artist, a cook, an avid reader, and loved to travel throughout the world.
She was survived by a daughter, Stefanie Barber of Fairhope, Ala.; sons, Mark Hyler Berns of Duluth, Minn.; Adam Tipton Berns of Issaquah, Wash; seven grandchildren, Timothy Mark Barber, Christopher Max Barber, Max Helmig Berns, Juliana Inder Berns, Michael Giorgio Erickson, Stefano Kenneth Erickson, Alexander Tipton Berns; other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, in the Chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope, Ala.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Eastern Shore Arts Center, 401 Oak Avenue, Fairhope, Ala. 36532.
