Clarence Jones of Rector Township in the upper northeast corner of Saline County holds the card that won him his seat as Rector Township Supervisor Monday in a tie-breaker contest with opponent John Suits.
Both candidates secured 23 votes in the April 9 election. Kim Buchanan, county clerk, had the two candidates draw playing cards from a brand new deck and Jones drew the high card, a One-eyed Jack.
Out of 44 registered voters in Rector Township, 23 voted. Countywide 26.63 percent of 16,500 registered voters turned out, according to election records.
