  • Prep Baseball: Carrier Mills, Gallatin County post victories

  • Carrier Mills posted a 10-1 win over Dongola Monday, while Gallatin County flexed its muscle in a 10-0 shut out win over Eldorado.
    The Wildcats got a strong performance from Loren Whiting as he went seven innings and allowed two hits, one run and struck out 11.
    Carrier Mills jumped out early scoring four runs in the first inning and added two more in the second inning.
    Darren Betz ripped a two-run double, followed by a Whiting RBI single in the first inning and against Betz delivered an RBI double in the second.
    Josh Bailey and Whiting had RBIs in the fifth inning when Carrier Mills scored three runs and Betz had an RBI single in the sixth.
    Gallatin County 10, Eldorado 0
    Gallatin County hosted Eldorado in a non-conference game Monday and blanked the Eagles 10-0. Gallatin County starter Wes McGuire allowed one infield single to lead off the game for Eldorado and then clamped down to pick up his seventh win of the season.
    The Hawks started the scoring in the first on back-to-back doubles by Wes McGuire and Daine Hish and capped off the scoring with a steal of home by Jared Jackson. Marcus Wargel homered to lead off the second and Hawks tacked on more runs in the third and fourth inning on RBI hits by Thomas York and Mitch Ramsey.
    Brennan Unthank took the loss for the Eagles, lasting 2 2/3 inning and allowed seven runs on eight hits. Unthank walked five and struck out one.
    Adam Collier went 1 1/3 for the Eagles to finish things off in relief and allowed two earned runs on two hits, while striking out two and walking one.
    The Hawks move to 16-3 on the season and will host Crab Orchard on Thursday.
