Betty J. Bozaich, 82, of Denver, Colo., passed away on April 17, 2013, at Swedish Hospital in Denver.
The daughter of Charles and Myrtle (Pemberton) Maple, she was born on Jan. 31, 1931, in Saline County, Illinois, the youngest of six children.
Betty dearly loved the people in her life, and was always willing to do anything she could do to care for them. She left a lasting impression on everyone she met by bringing a smile to their faces through her love of conversation, exuberance for life, and infectious energy. Music was an important part of her life — from singing for live radio broadcasts as a teenager to years of membership in the choir at Parkway Baptist Church. Always active in her children’s schools, Betty was honored as one of the first “Pillars of Parkway School District.” As a traditional “stay-at-home” mom, she reveled in cooking and entertaining – some of her favorites to prepare were farm fresh produce, fried chicken, and grilled meats. In her later years, her greatest joy came from time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Betty married Stan Bozaich in St. Louis in 1953. They had four children, Gloria, Craig, Cathy and Robert. As a caring wife and mother, she raised their children as Stan travelled for Brown Shoe Company. Stan passed away in 2003, and Betty spent the next years living near her children and their families – first with Craig (Conyers, Ga.), then Robert (Vernon Hills) from 2008-11, and later, Cathy and Glo (Denver, Colo.).
Betty is survived by sisters Clara Brandt Phillips of Springfield, Mo.; Ruth Judis of Joliet; sister-in-law Mary Lou Maple of Sterling; daughter Glo and son-in-law Bill Bailey of Centennial, Colo.; son Craig and daughter-in-law Cheryl Bozaich of Conyers Georgia; daughter Cathy and son-in-law Steve Ormiston of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; and son Robert and daughter-in-law Holly of Northbrook; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brothers Stanley Maple, Warden Maple, and Perry Maple.
