The board voted in the March meeting to abate taxes for 2012 payable in 2013 in the Bond and Interest Fund in the amount if $250,000.
That money is now being paid by the 1 percent school facilities tax. Each month since July of 2012 the district has received $40,000 to $54,000 from the tax. The district said the intention was to abate taxes before voters approved of the sales tax.
Superintendent Gary Siebert said residents who live in a $60,000 house might expect a decrease of at least $150 in property tax and those in a $100,000 house might expect a decrease of $250.
