  • Sheriff Keith Brown reminds the public that with weather radios out, the SCSO Nixle alert system is an option to keep abreast of the latest weather developments.
The National Weather Service in Paducah, Ky., has stated that due to a communications issue, many of the Weather Radio Stations are unable to transmit alerts to the public.
Everyone is asked to monitor other media sources for changing weather conditions.
The Saline County Sheriff’s Office uses an alert system called NIXLE as well as several other agencies in the area. A few of those agencies are Franklin, Williamson and City of Marion as examples.
You can sign up to receive alerts by sending a text message to 888777 and enter your zip code in the message field and press send, or you may go www.nixle.com and sign up your cell phone and/or email account.
