Colleen Summers, 89, of Harrisburg passed away at 3:44 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab in Paducah, Ky.
Colleen was born on Nov. 7, 1923, to the late Everett and Anna (Davis) Chambers but was raised by Everett and Lillian (Vinyard) Chambers after the death of her mother. On Dec. 21, 1941, she married Nomas M. Summers and he preceded her in death on April 26, 2005. Colleen and her husband were the former owners and operators of Summers Appliance. She was a member of Mizpah General Baptist Church.
Surviving family members include two sons: Bill (Connie Jo) Summers of Harrisburg, and Myron (Jackie) Summers of New Port Richey, Fla.; sister-in-law: Mary Lou Chambers of Benton, Ky; three grandchildren: Melissa (Scott) Philbeck of New Port Richey, Fla., Kimberly Anne (Lloyd) Rayburn of Hartland, Mich., and Billy (Robin) Summers of Cadiz, Ky.; five great-grandchildren: Makaya Sutton, Brandon Rayburn, Dalton Summers, Bryce Rayburn, and Zachary Philbeck. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Nomas; and brother: James Chambers.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Dewayne Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Oval Cemetery in Norris City. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg.
