Gallatin County voters passed the 1 percent sales tax to benefit public safety in Tuesday’s election.
There were 1,210 votes yes or 65 percent of the vote and 633 votes no or 34 percent, according to Gallatin election results provided by the county clerk.
This means for every $100 spent at Gallatin County businesses, $1 goes into the safety fund.
Sheriff Shannon Bradley has said the passage of the tax would mean the department can keep the current staffing at the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office. If the tax did not pass he was planning on laying off at least one position.
