Peggy Lou (Lawrence) Poirot, age 82, of Harrisburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 11:04 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Carrier Mills Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Peggy was born in Murphysboro on May 14, 1930, to Charles Oscar and Margaret (Metcalf) Lawrence.
She was married to Joseph E. Poirot on Oct. 21, 1950, at Pate Chapel Church in Murphysboro. She was a full-time homemaker and a devoted mother to her six children. She was a very active, long-time member of the First Assembly of God Church in Harrisburg until it closed and then attended Abundant Life Assembly in Marion, and later attended Christian Life Fellowship Church of Harrisburg. She was saved and dedicated her life to God on Nov. 24, 1982. She loved to study her Bible and write poetry.
Peggy is survived by two sons, the Rev. Roger (Clara) Poirot of Newburgh, Ind., and the Rev. Joseph L. (Cindy) Poirot of Harrisburg; and four daughters, Cheryl (Larry) Clore of Carrier Mills, Marcella Poirot of Harrisburg, Rebecca Poirot of Harrisburg and Laura Poirot of North Carolina. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph E. Poirot on March 27, 1990; one grandchild, Michael L. Poirot on Nov. 29, 2001; three brothers; four sisters; and her mother and father.
Services for Peggy will be held at Reed Funeral Chapel, in Harrisburg noon Thursday, April 11, 2013. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon. The Rev. Kenneth Blumenstock will officiate and burial will be held at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg.
