Senior thrower J.C. Lambert was named the Missouri Valley Conference's Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the second straight week, the conference announced today.
Lambert claimed two more event titles for his final Saluki campaign this past weekend at the inaugural Bill Cornell Spring Classic to christen the brand new Lew Hartzog Track and Field Complex.
At Day One, Lambert won the discus with a personal best throw of 50.86m (166-10), which currently registers as the ninth best men's throw in SIU history.
At Day Two, Lambert once again ran away with the men's hammer throw, winning with a best heave of 65.91m (216-03) -- 12 feet better than second place. If it weren't for his MVC and SIU record-shattering throw last week at Vanderbilt, Lambert's most recent throw would have been one inch shy of SIUs all-time mark. After the weekend of competition around the country, Lambert only fell one spot to third nationally in the hammer throw.
