Discussion arose regarding a break in of village offices and a malfunctioning storm siren during committee meetings of the Carrier Mills Village Board Monday night.
The Carrier Mills Water Department building and the Street and Alley garage were broken into over the weekend.
The break in was discovered Saturday morning by water department employees. A small amount of copper tubing was stolen from the Water Department building and tool bins in the Street and Alley garage were opened, though no thefts were reported from that building.
The Carrier Mills Fire Department is experiencing difficulty with one of the village storm sirens. The siren located near Mike Lawrence baseball field has been sounding over the last several weeks as city crews attempt to correct a problem in the signal receiver in the unit.
The Fire Department wants to remind village residents that a true signal will be the usual long, steady siren and any short or fluctuating signals are to be ignored.
The department also reminds residents that the monthly siren test is on the first Tuesday of the month at 10 a.m.
