  • Vienna breaks open game with four-run fifth against Eldorado

  • The Eldorado High School softball team fell 4-1 on the road Thursday in prep action.
    The tightly contested game was finally broke open with a four-run inning in the bottom of the fifth inning for Vienna.
    Eldorado got its one run in the top of the sixth inning when Ashton Unthank drove in Juana Gonzalez for the lone RBI.
    EHS had four hits on the day as Charley Lowery, Kara Dale, Cassidy Morris and Unthank each had a hit.
    Michaela Laswell took the loss for the Eagles as she went six innings, allowing eight hits. All runs were unearned as Eldorado committed five errors on the day. Laswell did strike out five and walked one.
    Eldorado is scheduled to play host to Johnston City at 4:30 and will play host to West Frankfort Wednesday at 4:30 as well. The Eagles will travel to Hamilton County Thursday for a 4:30 p.m. contest before playing host to Crab Orchard next Friday, starting at 4 p.m.
