  • With the weather still at a chilly 45 degrees, Harrisburg coach KT Nelson said it was the best conditions of the season so far.
On the flip side, the Bulldogs (5-3) were saddled with just nine players, forcing the coaching staff to form a make-shift lineup in a 5-0 road loss at Du Quoin in non-conference prep action.
The loss was the second straight for Harrisburg as Hanna Jones took the loss as the junior fell to 4-2 on the season.
Jones went three innings, allowing four runs (one earned), on three hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
Ashley Ferrell relieved in the fourth, inning one unearned run on four hits with two walks and one strikeout.
Cassidy Rice took the win for Du Quoin, improving to 5-0 in the circle for the Indians. Rice went the distance, allowing two hits, one walk and five strikeouts.
DuQuoin's defense committed only one error, while Harrisburg had four very costly errors in the game which led to unearned runs by DHS.
Brittny Banks made two outstanding catches in centerfield for the Bulldogs, preventing several more runs from scoring.
Harrisburg's two hits were from Ferrell, who went 1-for-3, along with Brittany Reynolds.
Harrisburg is slated to return to action Friday in a road game at Eldorado.
