  • Prep Baseball: Gallatin County, Carrier Mills-Stonefort grab wins

  • Hawks top Wayne City, Wildcats take one-run win over Thompsonville

  • Gallatin County and Carrier Mills-Stonefort each picked up victories Wednesday as the Hawks knocked off Wayne City 17-3 and the Wildcats clipped Thompsonville 1-0.
    In Gallatin County's win, Tyler Crayne tossed four innings, giving up one earned run on just two hits. Marcus Wargel finished up throwing a solid inning in relief.
    At the dish, the Hawks took advantage of several walks and hit bats men to put up their 17 runs.
    Wes McGuire and Daine Hish got things going in the first on back-to-back home runs, while solid hitting followed by Wargel and Jared Jackson.
    Gallatin County put up three runs in the fourth inning, followed by four runs in the second. The Hawks hit parade continued in the third inning where the Hawks plated 10 runs.
    Carrier Mills-Stonefort one run in the first inning proved to be the difference maker as Anthony Kalonder had a lead off double and later scored on an RBI single by Josh Bailey.
    Dalton Summers (1-1) went seven strong innings, giving up four hits and struck out six.
    Kalodner went 2-for-3, while Darren Betz and Bailey each went 1-for-3. David Goodman finished 1-for-2 at the plate for the Wildcats who are now 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the Greater Egyptian Conference.
    Brady Householder took the loss for the Tigers. Despite striking out 10, Householder gave up five hits, walked one and hit one batter.
