  • Freda Ellen Rann, 91, of Harrisburg passed away at 12:25 a.m., Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.

  • Freda Ellen Rann, 91, of Harrisburg passed away at 12:25 a.m., Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.
    Freda was born on Aug. 26, 1921, in Saline County to the late John B. and Bertha (Vinson) Cowsert. On April 27, 1940, she married Robert F. Rann, Jr. and he preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 2005. She was a member of the Saline Ridge Baptist Church but recently attended Liberty Baptist Church.
    Surviving family members include three sons: Ron (Brenda) Rann of Harrisburg, Roger (Carol) Rann of Raleigh and Jerry (Nancy) Rann of Herod; two daughters-in-law: Carole Sue Rann of Greenwood, Ind., and Judye Rann of Carrier Mills; 14 grandchildren: Tammy (Mike) Syers of Carrier Mills, Gary (Renee) Rann of Enid, Okla., Eric Rann of Carrier Mills, Trudy Jo (Chris) Reed of Harrisburg, Ronita (Jeff) Murrie of Harrisburg, Ronald Rann Jr. of Evansville, Ind., Steve Rann of Eldorado, Chris (Brandi) Rann of Harrisburg, Beth Ann (Brian) Stansell of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lisa Fenlon of Indianapolis, Ind., Ryan (Samonica) Rann of Harrisburg, Jeff (Emily) Rann of Harrisburg, Amanda (Dewayne) Hobbs of Gilbertsville, Ky., and Jim (Traci) Rann of Harrisburg; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister: Oma Lee Muensterman of Eldorado; several nieces and nephews.
    Freda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons: John Rann, Fred Rann, and Randy Rann, daughter-in-law: Donna Rann, and sister and brother-in-law: Virginia and Elmer Brady, and brother-in-law: Robert Muensterman.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Jeff Owens will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois Blue East Team. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
