Gallatin County opened their baseball season with a 12-2 win over visiting Fairfield of Wednesday. Wes McGuire picked up the win going all six innings, striking out 11 and allowing one unearned run.
Gallatin was lead in hitting by Marcus Wargel 's 1-3 with three RBI's performance, while Jared Jackson went 2-3 and Lance Henshaw finished 1-1.
Gallatin County scored three runs in the third, followed by four runs in the fourth, two runs in the fifth and three in the bottom of the sixth for the 10-run victory.
Gallatin County traveled to Meridian on Thursday and came away with a 7-4 win over a very solid Bobcat team. The Hawks put runs on the board in each of the third through sixth innings capping things off in the sixth with a 3-run triple by Jared Jackson.
Zach McGuire pitched a strong 6.1 innings before tiring a bit in the 7th.
Gallatin improves to 2-0 on the season.
Eldorado picked up a 10-5 victory over Wayne City to start the season last week, before falling to Herrin 11-0 on Friday.
Brennan Unthank got the win against Wayne City, while Dakota Prather picked up the loss against the Tigers.
Jordan Pilkington and Dylan Roberts each went 2-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBIs against Wayne City. Tyler Deaton and Unthank each went 2-for-3, while Deaton pounded out a double and two RBIs. Prather finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
In the loss to Herrin, Pilkington finished 2-for-2 as the Eagles' top hitter.
