At the Eldorado Unit 4 Regular School Board Meeting, Thursday, Feb. 21 it was reported that Lori Quigley, middle school math teacher and middle school Beta Club sponsor was honored at the State Convention as the Beta Club Sponsor of the Year. The school will be honoring students at the regular March school board meeting.
Two high school girls won speech contests held by the American Legion. Riley Duckworth could not be at the meeting.
Dempsey Hankins gave her speech to the Board on the 28th amendment to the Constitution.
Tim Orr, special education teacher at the middle school, was successful in receiving a grant from Southeastern Illinois Electric Cooperative to purchase two iPads and apps for middle school special education classes.
Senior Class Trip was approved by the board to Disney Land on April 23 through April 25.
David Jones gave a presentation on the new coal mining class and the board approved dropping the double period for next year. Eldorado High School Principal Ryan Hobbs gave the Holiday Tournament report and said the amount of money was down this year probably because of the weather and the final day of the tournament being on a Monday.
During the meeting, the board:
- Approved a trip for Middle School Beta students to attend the National Convention in Mobile, Ala.
- Approved the High School Baseball Team to play some games at Rent One Park in Marion in the spring.
- Approved a medical leave of absence for aide Marsha Agin.
- Accepted the resignation of Charlie Stewart as an aide and hired Teresa Hopkins to fill that position for the balance of this school year.
