An assortment of winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories have been issued for portions of the region.
I suspect that temperatures will rise above freezing this afternoon for western Kentucky and parts of southern Illinois. A brief period of freezing rain, sleet, and snow will be possible before temperatures rise above freezing.
The quicker temperatures rise above freezing then the less concern for ice.
I continue to believe areas from Poplar Bluff, Missouri towards Carbondale, IL towards Mt Vernon - along and west of that line will have the most problems.
Remember that any frozen precipitation can cause problems on roadways.

If you are a weather enthusiast then I recommend listening to WeatherBrains each week! For a more in-depth look at what is happening in meteorology.
Now is a GREAT time to buy a NOAA All Hazards Weather Radio. Better to have one before storms strike than to be without one during an event. I recommend the Midland Model 300 NOAA All Hazards Weather Radio - that is what I use here at my house!
