Wynona F. Pyle, 100 of Carrier Mills, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, in Harrisburg Medical Center.
She was born in Harrisburg on Aug. 8, 1912, to the late Walter E. and Malinda M. Lanham Todd. On Feb. 28, 1928, in Marion, she married Cecil Claude Pyle and he preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 1974. Wynona was a homemaker and lived her entire life in Carrier Mills. She was a member of the Main Street Church of God for 81 years and was recently recognized as the oldest living charter member of the Church of God in the state of Illinois.
She is survived by three sons, Billy Joe (late Mary) Pyle of Carrier Mills, George (Marie) Pyle of Phoenix City, Ala., Richard (Jamii) Pyle of Ozark; three daughters, Sharon (late George) Riley of Harrisburg, Brenda (Dave) Harrison of Pekin and Virginia (Gary) Wright of Carrier Mills.
She was the proud grandmother to 28 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 27 great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a half brother, James Floyd; three half sisters, Estelle Floyd of Mt. Carmel, Twila Yates of Homer, Mich., and Betty Mae Floyd of Puyallup, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Linda Galas; son, Jerry Pyle; son, William Pyle; and daughter, Velina Pyle; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Evelyn Pankey; and a half brother, Joseph Floyd.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. The Rev. Harold Miller and the Rev. Fred Ping will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. until the funeral hour on Monday.
