  • Though both teams combined for 17 3-pointers, Cameron Taborn's 19 points in the paint lifted the Wildcats over the Cougars 59-48.
Wildcat head coach Mark Motsinger, who had his 600th career victory over Crab Orchard Feb. 5, was awarded the game ball before Friday night's home game.
His team, 13-12, has lost only three games to Gallatin County in Greater Egyptian Conference play this season.  However, it is a constant fight for the Wildcats as the season nears its end and conference teams look to knock off the number two team for regular season bragging rights.
"We have a pretty good rivalry with Carrier Mills," Hardin County head coach Rodney Watson said. " And tonight we ran our offense patiently and connected on a lot of good shots because of it. It would have been nice to have to beat them at home, but I'm happy with the improvements we've made throughout the season."
The Wildcats had a narrow lead throughout the game, but in the end it was Cameron Taborn's post presence that made the difference, both offensively and defensively. His four blocked shots and 19 points were followed by  13 points from Wildcat sophomore Slayden Figg.
"With the exception of Andrew Drone there isn't anyone in the GEC Taborn shouldn't be able to elevate over and score." Carrier Mills head coach Mark Motsinger said. "His hustle on both ends of the floor is what saved us tonight."
