Section 25 FFA barn golf a success, organizers say

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS - Organizers of a multicounty FFA fundraiser say the Saturday event was a success.

"It went pretty well. We had about 60 participants, and everyone we talked to had fun," Harrisburg FFA co-sponsor Nick James said.

The event featured 18 custom holes of mini golf at six area schools. All FFA Section 25 schools participated in the sprawling "golf course" that combined mini golf with elements of a Jeep or poker run. Players went from Harrisburg High School to Eldorado High School, Gallatin County High School, Pope County High School, Massac County High School and finished at Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School.

James said next year, the event may allow participants to start at the school of their choosing to encourage additional participation.

"We're planning on doing it again next year. We accomplished our goal, and we'd like to say thank you to all of our sponsors and all who participated," James said.<links>
<data>
