Showers and rumbling thunderstorms moved through our region on Sunday - rainfall totals were in the 0.40-0.80" range across most of the area. No severe weather was reported.
Tornadoes roared through the southern U.S. - south of our region - on Sunday afternoon and evening. Our thoughts are with all of the people impacted by the devastating storms.
Today will be quiet for our local region. Temperatures won't be too bad - highs mainly in the 50s. Can't complain about those temperatures in early February!
A winter storm will develop on Tuesday into Wednesday across the central and southern United States. This system will spread rain and snow into parts of the Midwest and Mississippi/Tennessee River Valleys.
Even at this late hour - within 72 hours of the system - there remain some questions on precipitation type and temperature profiles. Monitor updates.
A very active pattern will develop over the coming 2-4 weeks. Multiple storm systems are possible in a fast jet stream pattern. Monitor updates as we move forward. The pattern is loaded for some big events in the United States. Storm tracks will have to be determined as we deal with each system.
