  • How to build deck lights with soft, diffused light
    • email print
  • When Burrell Nadeau, of Duluth, Minn., built a new deck, he wanted low-voltage lighting that matched the deckís design. So he built light boxes from the same lumber as his deck and outfitted them with 12-volt automotive marker lights, powered by a low-voltage transformer found at a home center. He left the bottom of the boxes open to let the lights shine on the deck surface, and he installed 3-inch soffit vents in the front faces to allow for softer, more diffused light around the railings.
