A Hardin County father and daughter were killed in an early morning crash Sunday on state Route 146 at the Hardin County School.
Hardin County Coroner Jessica Cullum said Terry Dutton, 49, and his daughter, Cynthia Renfroe, 26, both of Cave-In-Rock were killed in the single-vehicle crash that occurred shortly before 3:40 a.m. Sunday.
Cullum said Illinois State Police District 22, Ullin, are investigation and would not comment on the events leading to the crash.
Illinois State Police could not be reached by press time. WSIL-TV reports Illinois State Police said the wreck happened when a driver overcorrected, cross both lanes of traffic before striking a culvert on the south side of the road and overturning with both ejected from the vehicle. WSIL reports Illinois State Police have reported weather and alcohol were factors.
According to obituary information from Hardin County Funeral Services, Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home Dutton’s wife is Sandra Dutton and he is survived by four daughters, a son and a stepson and was a member of the Cave-In-Rock Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Thursday, at Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home with visitation 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
