  • Gallatin County did what they could against one of the area’s better 2A teams in Nashville, but down the stretch, there was just too much sting in the Hornets defense.
Gallatin County suffered its first loss since the championship of the Eldorado Holiday Tournament, when they lost to 2A Harrisburg, this time losing 35-28 to Nashville at the Nashville Sports Booster Shootout Saturday night.
Trailing by a point with a little more than two minutes to play, Nashville’s Scott Brown connected on a jumper to give the Hornets the lead as they went 6-of-8 from the foul line in the games final 90 seconds.
Only three players scored for the Hawks as Andrew Drone put up 22 points, while Patrick Lowe finished with four and Wes McGuire tacked on two.
Gallatin County opened the game with a slim 6-5 lead and took a 14-12 lead into the lockeroom. Nashville then outscored the Hawks 10-7 in the third quarter and 13-6 in the final eight minutes where costly miscues came back to bite Gallatin County, as they finished with 20 turnovers in the contest.
Drone added a bucket with 5:18 left to play in the fourth and from that point on, Gallatin County would only score one more time.
