Harrisburg High School sophomore Rebecca Stricklin finished first overall at Saturday's IHSA Girls' Bowling Sectional to earn a trip to the state tournament this weekend in Rockford.
Stricklin finished with a tournament score of 1259, good enough for a 210 average.
"This is the second time we have had an individual qualify for the state finals," HHS head coach Doug Cottom said. "Ironically, the other person was Rebecca's sister, Alicia in 2008.
"Rebecca has thrown the ball well all year and is very deserving of the win," Cottom added. "I was extremely proud of the way she battled all day. She didn't have a game below 190 and I will be surprised if she doesn't do well this weekend."
As a team, the Bulldogs finished in eighth place out of 19 teams.
"We were in fourth place at the break, but came out and played poorly in the afternoon," Cottom said. "The scores were low and we had our chance, but didn't capitalize on it."
