Gladys Black, 93, longtime resident of Leamington, passed on this life peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013.
Gladys was born in Gallatin County on Jan. 9, 1920, to the late Thomas and Floyd (Barnett) Brinkley. On May 15, 1939, she married her soul mate, Clifford Black and he preceded her in death in 2001. Gladys enjoyed her life on top of the hill at home in Leamington, where Clifford and she raised their family. She loved to cook, work in the garden and be around her family. She was always so kind and a real pleasure to talk to. Gladys was a good wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed.
Gladys is survived by two sons, Jim (Beth) Black, Port Charlotte, Fla., and Jerry (Beverly) Black, Harrisburg; along with grandchildren, Debra (Artie) Stubbs, Jason Black, Shannon Black and Sherman Black; and great-grandchildren, Trevor (Alexa), Nichole, Kaitlyn and Daniel; and a sister in law, Myra Jo Brinkley. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robie Brinkley; two sisters, Euna Scott and Blanche Barnett.
Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway. The funeral will also be 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Robert Patton will officiate and the interment will follow in Leamington Cemetery.
