Lawrence Edward “Eddie” Patton, age 72, longtime resident of Shawneetown died on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at the home of his daughter in Evansville, Ind.
Eddie as most knew him was born in Shawneetown on Jan. 1, 1941, to the late Lawrence and Alice (Brazier) Patton. He was married in 1962 to Linda (Kanady) Patton who survives. He had been a coal miner and retired from Downen Enterprises after many years as the head diesel mechanic. He loved to collect guns, do woodworking and swing on his back porch visiting his friends and neighbors. Eddie was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be greatly missed.
Eddie is survived by his wife Linda of Shawneetown; two daughters, Susie and Tim Drone of Shawneetown and Margaret Patton and Fred Reinitz of Evansville, Ind.; two grandchildren, Jason Patton, Tim and Courtney Drone and son Landon; one brother, Jerry (Agnes) Patton of Shawneetown; two sisters, Donna (Bill) Downen of Shawneetown and Linda (Bob) Boone of Shawneetown; and was preceded by 2 sisters, Bernice Patton and Mary Jane Thomas.
Per his request, he will be cremated and there will be no public services. Cox & Son Funeral Home, Shawneetown Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.
