The Gallatin County High School boys' basketball team took care of Galatia 76-22 in the first round of the Greater Egyptian Conference Tournament Monday night at Southeastern Illinois College.
The Hawks, the tournament's No. 1 seed, now advances to Friday's semifinal round where they will play Thompsonville.
The GEC Tournament continues tonight (Tuesday) with No. 2 seeded Carrier Mills playing Hardin County at 8 p.m. The first game of the night will feature Norris City (3 seed) against Crab Orchard at 6 p.m.
On the consolation side of the bracket, Galatia will play Pope County Thursday at 8 p.m., while the loser of Carrier Mills/Hardin County and Norris City/Crab Orchard play Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
The seventh place game will be played Friday at 5:30 p.m., with the consolation championship tipping off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday night.
The third place game will then be played at 7 p.m. with the championship game going off at 8:30 p.m. Saturday night.
