Fredrick L. DeVous, 69, of Ridgway, passed away 12:55 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
He was born on March 12, 1943, in Eldorado, the son of Sebastian John and Margaret Dorothea (Gilmartin) DeVous. Fred married Barbara A. Boulds on Aug. 17, 1979, in Ridgway. He was a veteran of the Army reserves and was a life long farmer. Also, Fred was a member of the St. Kateri Catholic Church, Ridgway and a fourth degree in the Ridgway Knights of Columbus.
Fred is survived by his wife, Barbara DeVous of Ridgway; one daughter, Leslie (Tom) Stanford of Eldorado; three sisters, Ann (Ray) Wright, Newburgh, Ind., Neva Jean (Harlin) Barnett, Murphysboro, Lucille (Don) Evans of Washington; one brother, Bill (Pat) DeVous, Ridgway; two grandchildren, Zachary and Nicholas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles Sebastian and Phillip Michael DeVous; and sister, Mary Catherine DeVous.
Visitation for Fred will be held 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, with Rosary at 6 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at St. Kateri Catholic Church, Equality Chapel with Father Phillip DeVous and Father Steven Beatty officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery near Ridgway with military rites by Eldorado American Legion Post 169. Memorials in Fred’s memory may be made to the St. Joseph Cemetery, Ridgway.
