The time is now for the Harrisburg wrestling team to start making that late season push. Or so says Bulldog head coach Greg Langley.
Harrisburg went 1-1 at the West Frankfort duals Tuesday night, knocking off Pinckneyville 66-12, but falling to West Frankfort 45-36.
"Again, we had two or three guys out of the lineup, either hurt or sick," Langley said. "That made the difference. We are heading towards the end of the season and the state series begging. We need to get everyone healed up and over the flu and make a strong push here at the end when it really counts."
picking up wins against Pinckneyville were Zach Clarida (106 pounds), Darren O' Dell (113 pounds), Tyler Sullivan (120 pounds), Austin Lowry (126 pounds), Cody Rightnowar (132 pounds), James Baker (145 pounds), Lucian Hicks (152 pounds), Bryan Miller (170 pounds), Cole Adams (195 pounds), Tyler Owens (220 pounds) and Ryan Dennison (285 pounds).
In the loss to West Frankfort, Clarida, O' Dell, Sullivan, Lowery, Miller and Owens all picked up wins.
The Harrisburg junior varsity team improved to 6-1 on the year with two wins, beating West Frankfort 45-3 and winning against Pinckneyville 54-0.
All the wins against Pinckneyville came via forfeit as Dale Baker (120 pounds), Nicholas Reel (132 pounds), Dakota Barker (138 pounds), Garrett Betts (145 pounds), Derrick Hawkins (152 pounds), Brice Mauney (160 pounds), Logan Boon (170 pounds), Andres Quintero (182 pounds) and Brandon Hale (220 pounds).
Against West Frankfort, Baker, Barker, Betts, Hawkins, Mauney, Boon, Quintero and Hale all earned victories.
