There was no slow start this time around for Harrisburg, playing in their third game of the Lady Eagle Classic, as they knocked off Carmi-White County 58-30 Wednesday night at Duff-Kingston Gymnasium.
Harrisburg got eight first quarter points from senior forward Shelby Boer as the Bulldogs took a 16-7 first quarter lead.
The Bulldogs then outscored Carmi-White County 18-7 in the second quarter to take a 34-14 halftime lead.
Boer led all scorers with 15 points and finished with a double-double as she pulled down 10 rebounds. Devan and Hanna Jones added to the double digit scoring for Harrisburg as Devan dumped in 12 and Hanna added 10 points.
Carmi looked to key on Ashley Ferrell and Lindsey Murray which opened up the paint where Harrisburg scored 37 points, all coming from Boer, Devan and Hanna Jones.
"I was very proud of the way we came out and guarded tonight," HHS head coach Jake Stewart said. "Malayna (Douglas) and Whitney (Younger) did a great job on Carmi's best player.(Emma Bachman, who scored four points.
The second half was much of the same as Harrisburg pushed the lead to 24 by the end of the third quarter, outscoring the opposition 15-11.
"Our guards did a great job of handling pressure and getting the ball inside," Stewart said."
Ferrell finished with a team high 7 assist and three points, while Murray netted nine points.
Harrisburg returns to action Friday night, playing Mt. Carmel at 5:30 p.m.
