  • Boys Basketball: Carrier Mills cruises past Pope County

  • Carrier Mills picked up a 51-31 victory over Pope County Tuesday night.
    Slayden Figg scored a game high 12 points, while Cameron Taborn netted nine points. Josh Bailey and Darren Betz both added eight points and Josh Summers scored seven points.
    Loren Whiting tacked one three points, while Jonah Crowder and Levi Gabbard each had two points.
    Pope County kept pace with Carrier Mills in the early going, trailing 12-8 after one period of play, but the Wildcats cranked up the heat in the second quarter outscoring the Pirates 12-6 to take a 28-14 lead.
    Carrier Mills extended the lead to 40-24 after three quarters of play, outscoring Pope County 12-10 in the third.
