  • Girls Basketball: Harrisburg gets by Anna-Jonesboro in first round at Winter Classic

  • At the Lady Eagle Winter Classic, Harrisburg took care of business Saturday, knocking off Anna-Jonesboro 65-35.
    The Bulldogs put just two players in double figures as Shelby Boer led Harrisburg with 15 points and Kelsey Hobbs tacked on 10 in the win.
    Ashley Ferrell, Hanna Jones and Lindsey Murray all had six points for the Bulldogs, who will now play Pope County tonight (Monday) at the Lady Eagle Classic at 8 p.m.
    Despite falling behind 16-12 after one quarter of play, Harrisburg turned up the heat on the Wildcats in the second quarter, outscoring them 23-6 and taking a 35-22 lead at halftime.
    The Bulldogs kept up the pressure in the second half, outscoring A-J 14-9 in the third quarter and 16-4 in the final eight minutes.
    Harrisburg: Ferrell 2 0-0 6, Jones 2 2-4 6, Murray 2 2-4 6, Boer 7 1-7 15, Hobbs 4 0-0 10. Totals: 26 6-17 65.
    Anna-Jonesboro: Brimm 1 0-0 2, Farris 1 8-12 10, Chamness 2 4-6 9, Grant 1 1-6 3, Mixen 5 0-0 11, Totals: 10 13-24 35.
