In action late last week, Harrisburg fell to Marion 2798-2751 with CJ Murphy bowling a 603 and Isaac Alexander finishing with a 592 to pace the varsity boys.
"The bottom line is we are not very good and don't seem to concerned about getting better" HHS head coach Doug Cottom said. "We will see how the balance of the season works out, but going about it the way we are is not gonna cut it. We have two weeks to get ready for the sectionals. We can be competitive at that event but we must do a lot of things differently."
On the girls' side, Harrisburg won easily 2482-2215.
"we substituted freely tonight so our score could have been a lot higher," Cottom said. "We worked a couple of freshmen into the lineup for the first time and they were naturally very nervous. The girls have a shot at making the top two at the sectionals, we are just not quite there yet."
In the junior varsity matches, Dylan Brockett had a nice 224 game and Ashley Pruett bowled a 159.
Harrisburg will play Carbondale Wednesday and Johnston City Thursday at Ross-Cottom lanes and then participate in the 40-team O'Fallon Invitational Saturday and then the Bulldogs are at home the following Wednesday and Thursday.
