Samuel E. Rose Jr., 64, of Bost Orchard Road, Creal Springs, passed away at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at his residence with his loving family at his side.
Sam was born on Dec. 12, 1948, in Stonefort to the late Samuel E. Rose Sr. and Mayme Carmen Rose. He married the former Bonnie Scott on Nov. 6, 1968, and she survives. He attended the Little Chapel Church in Raleigh was an Army veteran and a retired UMWA coal miner.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; three sons, Doug (Lisa) Rose of Tampa, Fla., Bryan (Rachel) Rose of Deatsville, Ala., and Jason (Angela) Rose of Creal Springs; three sisters, Dee Jackson, Stonefort, Brenda Dixon, Cave-In-Rock, Janet Barnard, Elizabethtown; seven grandchildren and another expected in May; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters.
Cremation has been accorded. There will be a celebration of life memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at the Mt. Moriah General Baptist Church in Creal Springs. The Rev. Bill Schell will conduct the service. Family will receive friends after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the church. At the request of the family, flowers should be omitted and for those who wish, a memorial made be made in his memory to a local food pantry.
Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is assisting the family with the arrangements.
