Harrisburg Police arrested two men Tuesday both on charges related to wielding knives.
The most serious incident took place in the area of Poor Boys Lounge and involved the stabbing of Jason Teegarden, according to Harrisburg Police Chief Bob Smith.
Police got the call at 1:57 a.m. Tuesday. Police arrested Roger Allen Combs, 27, 816 Third St., Eldorado, 11:55 p.m. Tuesday on charges of unlawful use of weapon, aggravated battery and unlawful possession of a weapon. He remained held at the Saline County Detention Center this morning on $2,500 cash bond.
Smith said Teegarden was taken to an Evansville, Ind., hospital and understood he underwent surgery Wednesday.
Because Teegarden is a relative of one of the Harrisburg Police officers, Smith said he made the decision to turn the investigation over to Illinois State Police investigator Bryan Harms.
Harrisburg Mayor Eric Gregg gave a warning to liquor establishments in December regarding adherence to the rules of maintaining a liquor license, specifically remaining open at late hours.
Liquor sales hours is an item listed on the agenda for Harrisburg City Council’s 6 p.m. meeting Thursday.
Police also arrested Clay Ross Mattingly, 37, 519 N. Granger St., Harrisburg, 12:45 a.m. Jan. 1 on charges of resisting, unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated assault. He remains held at the Saline County Detention Center on $750 cash bond.
Smith said Mattingly was intoxicated at a residence wielding a knife, but physically harmed no one.
