Joyce E. Sharp, 51, Norris City, but formerly of Shawneetown, died peacefully at her home on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.
Joyce was born in Harrisburg on Dec. 25, 1961, to Edgar "Doc" McGhee and the late Virginia (Jefferies). Joyce married the love of her life, Bobby Sharp on Nov. 22, 2001, who survives. She was a beautician and had her own business for many years. She loved woodworking, crafts, gardening, fishing and being with her family. She had a contagious smile and a wonderful outlook on life. Joyce was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shawneetown. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother, sister, grandmother and friend and will be missed.
Joyce is survived by her husband Bobby Sharp of Norris City; one son, John Oldham of Old Shawneetown; three daughters, Amber Patterson, Shawneetown, Rachel Oldham, Shawneetown and Patricia (Benny) Tanner, Old Shawneetown; 11 grandchildren; one stepson, Jackie Sharp; and one stepdaughter, Megan Brooks. She is also survived by her father, Edgar "Doc" McGhee; one brother, Jim McGhee, Shawneetown; and three sisters, Janet Johnson, Eldorado, Joann McGhee, Shawneetown and Julie Booth of Mineral Wells, Texas.
She was also preceded in death by a grandchild.
Visitation for Joyce will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway. Her funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Hall officiating. Interment will follow at the Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown.
