Albert A. “Cotton” Anderson, 71, of Thompsonville, passed away 11:22 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at Helia Health Care in Energy.
Albert was born Feb. 15, 1941, in Creal Springs to Robert Milus and Ruby Fay (Harris) Anderson. He married Lillie Roberts on November 23, 1977. Albert and Lillie have shared 35 years of marriage together.
Albert was retired having been a truck driver for 42 years. He was employed by Roy Brown Trucking and Energy Transport in Galatia for 22 years. He was a member of the Braden Valley Independent Church in Hamilton County.
Albert enjoyed going to church before his health began to fail him. He also enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel Music.
He liked to hunt and fish and loved to play with his grandchildren and visit with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Anderson of Thompsonville; five children, Jim Anderson and wife Cindy of Creal Springs, Jeff Anderson of Marion, Kimberly McAnelly and husband Tom of Marion, David Anderson and wife Melissa of Creal Springs, Shannon Anderson and wife Star of Marion; two stepchildren, Cheryl Jones and husband Richard of Karnak, Pamela Forbes and husband Rick of Herrin; 11 grandchildren, Justin Anderson of Creal Springs, Brian Anderson of Marion, Lindsey Tabor and husband Josh of Marion, Kacey Phinney and husband Mitchell of Marion, Jonathan Anderson and wife Amber of Herrin, Aaron and Michael McAnelly of Marion, Caroline and Justin Warner of Creal Springs, Erik Mezo of Herrin, Aaron and Adam Jones of Karnak; six great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Warner, McKenzie and Madison Anderson, Lillian Rae Phinney, Sadie Renae Anderson and Wyatt Drake Tabor; two sisters, Loudene Thompson and husband Harold of Creal Springs, Lena Hollock and husband Pat of Ashville, Ala.; one brother, Ralph Anderson and wife Sue of Lexington, Tenn.; mother-in-law, Lillie Roberts of Johnston City; three sisters-in-law, Mildred Anderson of Creal Springs, June Anderson of Creal Springs, Sharon Bartee of Omaha, Neb. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; James Anderson and wife Rita, Gareld Anderson, William A. Anderson; father-in-law, Vard Roberts; sister-in-law, Loretta Meracle; stepfather, Lester Dempsey and a nephew Jimmy Thompson.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with the Rev. Robert Abbott officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
