Lindell G. Osman, 74, Marion, passed away 12:29 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Lindell was born June 2, 1938, in Hardin County the son of Loren and Verbal (Brown) Osman. He married Margaret Ellen Smothers on Dec. 26, 1957, in Rudement and they have been blessed with 55 years of marriage.
He was a veteran, proudly answering the call to serve his country during the Vietnam War. Lindell attended Cornerstone Baptist Church. He had two careers, retiring after 30 years from Uniroyal Chemical in Joliet and nine years from the Veteran’s Home in Manteno. Lindell is survived by his wife, Margaret Osman, Marion; daughter, Robin E. Tarlton (Michael), Marion; five grandchildren, Andrew Osman, Laurn Osman, Noah Tarlton, Justin Tarlton, and Brandon Tarlton; three sisters, Wilma Williams, Hazel Miller and Sharon LaPara.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Melissa Osman; three brothers, Randall, Dean and Jack Osman.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon Montgomery officiating. Military rites will be presented by Marion’s VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147 and members of the National Guard Detail Unit. Burial will follow in Fountain Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at the funeral home.
