The Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School will be receiving an elevator following action of the school board at a meeting Dec. 10.
This elevator will bring the building into full compliance with the ADA or Americans with Disabilities Act.
Huff architectural company of Harrisburg has been hired to create the design for the elevator installation. The elevator will be located in the corner of the ground floor study hall and will run to the corner of the upstairs computer lab.
Work is expected to start on the first day of summer vacation and will be paid for by revenue generated from the Saline County Sales Tax for school building maintenance or construction.
The board also formally approved the certificate of tax levy, Superintendent Morgan stating that the levy would generate $697,138.00 in funding for fiscal year 2014.
The board heard an update on the Maintenance Grant and Door project. This is a matching grant from Illinois State providing $50,000 to match a similar expenditure by the district. This project will replace doors, fire-doors and locks on six to eight doors in the high school building.
In other action the board:
Approved the FY 2012 Annual Financial Report, compiled by Kemper CPA Group of Harrisburg.
Approved changes in school policy to remain in accord with changes in Illinois State regulations.
