Anna-Jonesboro only had four wrestlers in their wrestling match with Harrisburg Tuesday night, allowing the Bulldogs to score an easy 70-12 win over the Wildcats, improving to 3-3.
Of the 14 matches, Harrisburg won 12 with Zach Clarida, Darren O'Dell, Tyler Sullivan, Austin Lowry, Lucian Hicks, Zach Perkins, Bryan Miller, Jaxon Karnoski, Kyle Heavener, Tyle Owens and Brandon Thom all winning.
Hicks was able to win the 152-pound weight class scored at 19-7, while Thom won with a pinfall at 1:35.
All other matches were forfeits.
"With A-J only having four wrestlers total in their varsity/junior varsity lineups, getting better by receiving forfeits just does not get us headed towards positive things," head coach Greg Langley said.
"So, we had to use the time wisely and were able to wrestle eight or nine exhibition matches with our own varsity and JV after the four contests were decided head-to-head."
Langley added that at least gives his team some desperately needed mat time.
"We did not keep score in our exhibition matches with ourselves, bit we did get in some conditioning and work on the mats," Langley added. "The biggest thing we need right now to get better is mat time."
The Bulldogs will get that time this weekend at the Cumberland Tournament and the junior varsity team going to the A-J Tournament all on Saturday.
The JV team had a clean sweep, winning 54-0 to improve to 2-1.
Boyd Baker, Dakota Barker, Sean Crisenberry, Garrett Betts, Brice Mauney, Logan Boon, Cole Adams, Mackenzie Alvey and Ryan Dennison all won via forefit.
