Mable (Stevens) Pierce, age 79, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, in Harrisburg Hospital. She was born on April 17, 1933, to Ida Mae and Gus Koker in Uniontown, Ky.
She was preceded in death by both parents; husbands, Arthur Stevens and William Pierce; son, Michael Stevens; brothers, James, Parvin, John and Gilbert Koker. Surviving sisters are Diannia (Ray) Woods of Norris City and Mary Hall of California, and a brother, Earl Koker of Raleigh.
She is also survived by a daughter, Vicki Latrese (Richard) Guye of rural Thompsonville and a son, David (Vicki) Stevens of Mussle Shoals, Ala. Also four grandchildren, Shannon Bell of Harrisburg, Andy (Traci) Bell of Thompsonville, Michael (Tiffany) Stevens of Eldorado and Arron(Amber) Stevens of North Carolina, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She loved her stepchildren and stepgrandchildren like her own and was especially close to Denny Pierce of Las Vegas, Nev., and Baily, Maddie and Katie Guye of Desoto.
Mable worked 30 years at the cap factory in Harrisburg before she retired and opened a small upholstery shop on the outskirts of Galatia. She later enjoyed some travel and much time was spent in the enjoyment of the presence of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are with the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with visitation at 1 p.m. and funeral at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012. The Rev. Steve Hunt will officiate. Internment will be at a later date in Lebanon Cemetery.
