  • Two West Frankfort women were hurt in a crash 4:25 p.m. Wednesday on state Route 34 west of Roberts Road in the far western edge of Saline County.
Illinois State Police said Wednesday the crash was caused when the driver, Karen S. Tresenritter, 44, West Frankfort, dropped something on the floorboard and tried to retrieve it.
She drove off the roadway and onto the right shoulder. She then overcorrected her steering and lost control of the vehicle, according to a release from ISP.
The vehicle crossed both lanes of traffic and overturned in a drainage ditch. Tresenritter was transported by Air Evac to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind., for treatment. A passenger, Denise J. Ragsdale, West Frankfort, was transported by Med Force Ambulance to Ferrel Hopsital in Eldorado.
The Illinois State Police was assisted at the crash scene by Saline County Sheriff's Department, Med Force Ambulance, Air Evac, Winters Towing and the Galatia and Eldorado Fire Departments. Charges are pending. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
