Bettie L. Barger, 85, of Harrisburg, went home on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at her residence in Brookstone Estates, Harrisburg.
She will be remembered for her sourdough bread, "Bettie Bread," and her sharp wit.
Bettie was born on Aug. 16, 1927, in Harrisburg, daughter of the late Bert and Ethel (McIlrath) Scribner. She married Wilbur X. Barger on Nov. 26, 1947, and he preceded her in death on June 14, 1983. Bettie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Harrisburg.
Bettie is survived by daughters, Jane (Bill) Richey, Galatia, and Allison (Dennis) Wilson, Harrisburg; granddaughters, Jodi Wilson (Mark) McKnight, Harrisburg, and Lori Wilson (Mark) Taber, Harrisburg; great-grandchildren, Ryne Overstreet, Rody McKnight, Brystil Taber and Sydney Taber; stepgrandchildren, Vall (Ron) Stout, Ben (Misty) Richey, Katie Richey and Dan Richey; nieces, Susan Justice, Beth (Rick) Williams, Elise Woodward and Rosalie Frazier; nephew, Stephen Frazier; brother-in-law, Shervert H. Frazier; and special friends whom she called her “Girls.”
She was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Lyndell Scribner and sister-in-law Gloria Frazier.
