  • Motorcyclist injured in deer crash

  • Seventy-five-year-old motorcyclist Roy "Wayne" Rushing, Shawneetown crashed his Kawasaki motorcycle into a deer at about 3:44 p.m. Dec. 5 on state Route 13 about 0.5 miles west of Duncan Lane, according to a release from Illinois State Police District 19.

  • Seventy-five-year-old motorcyclist Roy "Wayne" Rushing, Shawneetown crashed his Kawasaki motorcycle into a deer at about 3:44 p.m. Dec. 5 on state Route 13 about 0.5 miles west of Duncan Lane, according to a release from Illinois State Police District 19.
    The preliminary traffic crash investigation indicated that the driver of the 1999 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling eastbound on state Route 13, when he struck a deer in the roadway. Rushing lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the roadway before the motorcycle overturned several times before coming to rest. Jones was transported to the Harrisburg Medical Center by the Gallatin County Ambulance due to injuries sustained in the crash.
    C & T Towing, Shawneetown removed the motorcycle from the scene. The Illinois State Police were assisted on the scene by the Gallatin County Sheriff's Department, the Shawneetown Police Department and the Ridgway Police Department.
