  • Brookstone Estates in Harrisburg is participating in a worldwide candle lighting ceremony to remember local children who have died 6:45 p.m. Sunday.
The event is sponsored by The Compassionate Friends, a self-help bereavement organization for families that have suffered the loss of a child.
Brookstone employee Treva Aud is promoting the event. She lost her son Stuart, 21, Aug. 21, 2008. He had graduated college and was working at Water Tower Place when he was found dead of what was officially declared to be natural causes.
Aud began receiving literature from The Compassionate Friends Evansville, Ind., and learned of the Worldwide Candle Lighting event now in its 16th year.
There will be inspirational music, readings, the candle light at 7 p.m. and recitation of each child’s name. Aud invites all participants to bring a photograph of their deceased loved ones to place on a “remembrance table” for viewing.
“There are 30 countries (participating) around the globe for all children who have died so that their life will always shine on the remembrance table,” Aud said.
Participants are asked to submit their child’s name to Brookstone Estates by calling (618) 253-5870.
