Herrin author Anne-Marie Legan is holding a book signing for her latest book “Hauntings of Golconda” 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Harrisburg District Library.
A novelist, Legan enjoys setting her plots in small historic Southern Illinois towns and in the past has used Shawneetown, Wolf Lake, Cave-In-Rock, Shawnee National Forest and Elizabethtown as her backdrops.
“They are fiction, but I do go into the town, describe the town and give a bit of the history of it,” Legan said.
“Hauntings of Golconda” tells the story of a woman whose husband’s existence is a mystery.
“A woman must determine if her husband who was presumed a victim of a tragic boating accident on the Ohio River is really dead,” Legan said.
Legan has visited Golconda and interviewed people there hoping to make sure she has her facts straight.
As her novels are in the realm of mystery and suspense, law enforcement are one entity from which she gathers her information.
“With any novel you have to get the facts right and make sure the guns they are using are current,” she said.
Her novels, “Tattoo of a Wolf Spirit,” “Deadly Chase,” “Death Shadow,” “Wolf Lake” and “Secrets: Shawneetown” are available at her book signings and at the Internet sites barnesandnoble.com and amazon.com.
